CLEAN it up! Tips for cleaning up your VIBES.

Yes, I realize how flower child + free spirited this topic sounds...but, I hope you skeptics will hear me out. Because cleaning up my vibes has played a very important part on my self improvement journey and is something I would HIGHLY recommend anyone and everyone do! It is, in my opinion the thing that needs cleaning up the most in this world; our vibes. 

 

From implementing new practices to simply hanging pictures on my wall; here are the top 3 things I've implemented to clean up my vibes for happier living.

1. YOGA-

You don't have to enroll at your local studio, fork out big $$, or higher a personal yoga instructor to implement yoga practice into your everyday life. (I mean you totally can, and I personally love a group class every now and then...) But there are so many resources available out there that its nearly impossible to have an excuse as to why you aren't implementing the beautiful, grounding practice of yoga into your everyday routine. 
Here are my favorites for at home practice--

I love this app! It's easy to use, has so many options as far as length of session, level of difficulty, + targeted area for practice. It also has an awesome calendar feature where you can schedule classes and make it easy to keep up and integrate yoga into your everyday life.

Yoga with Adriene was my first experience with at home yoga. I LOVE her videos. They're jam packed with information, easy to follow, and fun! Perfect for at home beginners!

2. MEDITATION 

To many meditation is unfamiliar and seemingly unnecessary. But to those that practice it regularly, it is an essential way of life. I can not put into words the difference that meditation makes in my day. And you know what, I'm not perfect at it! Not even close. I skip days, don't fully complete my practices, and sometimes go through the process begrudgingly; receiving no benefits. But the days that I do take the 10-15 minutes to rest my mind and attain a state of consciousness, my world is brighter and my day is smoother; every time. 

Meditation tips-

+ Practice Guided Meditation--the Yoga Studio app has a section for guided mediations, which are very helpful for beginners! You can also find tons of resources for guided meditation online on youtube. My favorites are with my girl Gabrielle Bernstein. You can check those out here

+Use a mantra. It's easy for your mind to wander while you meditate. Remember, meditation is so much more than just sitting alone in quiet...in order to see results from you meditation you need to train your mind to shut out the noise and regain consciousness. Mantra's at first were difficult for me. I never knew what to say...that's where my Universe Has your Back card deck came in clutch! LOVE these cards by Gabrielle Bernstein. (Can you tell she's my favorite!?) 

3. VISION BOARD

A vision board is a powerful tool to manifest your life desires. According to the Law of Attraction "our attitudes and beliefs create a magnet to attract events, circumstances, and opportunities to live out those attitudes and beliefs. " Creating a vision board is a powerful Law of Attraction tool. By creating a vision board, you are attracting your desires. Creating a sacred space that displays what you want most in life, announces to the Universe that this is what you want. What you focus on, expands. By placing your vision board in a place you see often, you are incorporating visualization excercises into your daily routine. And visualization has been proven to be one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do.  Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. What do you have to lose? 

4. SPRITUAL PRACTICE

Whatever your religion; live it and love it. I've found nothing to be more influential on my vibes than the way I chose to worship. Having an understanding of why we're here, and honoring your creator is such an important part of spiritual practice and cleaning up your vibes.

Do it for your Kids: Making the swap to cleaner beauty.

Why is it so easy to do something for our kids, but so difficult to do something for ourselves? I recently chatted with a long time BFF about making the switch to clean beauty and she said "I already choose clean products for my kids, I don't know why I haven't for myself!?" I think sometimes it can feel selfish to invest in ourselves as moms. Taking time to go to the gym, making ourselves a healthy meal, taking a mental health day, investing in safer + cleaner products for ourselves...it all feels selfish. But the truth of it is, it's the least selfish thing you can do. Your children NEED you. If you do the research the stats are alarming and consequences are quite literally, deadly.

So it's understood that synthetic chemicals are bad for us...that's a commonly known fact. But why is it legally permitted to include these ingredients in our every day products without warning!? Check out the 6 worst offenders in your bathroom:

Healthy Resolutions: Mental + Emotional

This year, I have decided to make my health my top priority. Because, it's something I feel as though I have lost sight of since becoming a mom. (Sound familiar mamas!?) I have put so much time + effort into raising my children and tending to their every need, that I had neglected myself to an unhealthy point, and ending the year 2017 on quite a low note physically and emotionally. 

The timing of the New Year could not have been more perfect. The feeling of a fresh slate, and the chance to start "a new" was just the extra push I needed to turn it all around. Today we're only 5 days into 2018 and let me tell you, I have already felt such a drastic shift in myself and my life and it feels SO good. 

I've decided to firstly focus on my mental + emotional wellbeing. I've created a few specific goals/guidelines for myself that have played a huge part in the positive shift happening in my life.


Here's what they are:

 Removing the words "I can't" from my daily language.

This one has been SO much more difficult than I thought it would be. I had no idea how often I was saying these words on a daily basis, and how much those 2 words could have a negative impact on my day. When the boys were getting under my skin: "I can't"; when the laundry was piled high: "I can't"; when running late for every appointment we've ever had: "I can't"; when I began to feel overwhelmed with things happening in my personal life: "I can't." It felt so much easier to just admit defeat and give up, blaming everything negative happening on everyone and everything else. But the cold hard truth of the matter is: it's all on me. And this year, I'm choosing to say "I can." Because at the end of the day the only thing you have control of in this life is YOU and what you can or can not do. 

10 Minute Morning Meditation every day.

I used to think meditation was just a fancy word for relaxing. And I used to think, "I'd rather relax catching up on another episode of This is Us." And while yes, almost every episode made me feel deeply and left me feeling love + happiness, it's not the same as meditation...at all. I have practiced meditation on occasion for the past year, but have decided that it is something that I need to do daily to improve my mental + emotional wellbeing. Meditation is a mental exercise in which you are able to reflect deeply on whatever you wish. I always begin my meditation applying essential oils. I choose an oil based on my emotional needs for that day and what feels right for me (or just what smells good in the moment!) These are my favorites to incorporate into my practice:

In my meditation practice I like to have a mantra for every day that I repeat as I breathe deeply in and out. Focusing on my breath, and repeating my mantra over and over. My favorite source for a good mantra is my "The Universe Has Your Back" Card Deck. These cards a beautifully illustrated + contain words that will bring you guidance and inspiration. Even if you don't practice meditation, I would highly recommend them to anyone in search of positivity in their life. After repeating my mantra, I will complete my meditation breathing in the word "opportunity" and out the word "love". I don't vocalize these words, rather envision them as I breathe deeply.

Daily Prayer + Scripture Study

My relationship with God is an important part of who I am. This year I am working to feel closer to Him through daily prayer and scripture study. No matter your religious beliefs, I think it is important to feel close to your creator and as such, do things that make you feel that way. For me, this is to study The Bible + Book of Mormon, and speak to my Heavenly Father in prayer throughout the day.

As I have implemented these three things into my daily routine, I have been so pleased with the shift I have felt in my emotional and mental wellbeing. Remember, how you feel is up to YOU and YOU only. Join me in making 2018 the year of HEALTH + HAPPINESS!
